Mary Kinzel Means (paintings)
Born and raised in Roanoke, Va., Mary Means is an award-winning nationally collected Artist living and working in Roswell, Ga. Mary has been creating as long as she can remember. Some of her earliest memories were watching her grandfather at work in his studio “It was an incredible experience to watch him create...I was completely in awe and was forever influenced as an artist". After earning her BA at The University of Tennessee, she headed to Atlanta where she has been a successful gallerist and artist for over three decades.
Both a sculptor and a painter, Mary primarily paints in encaustics, which is a combination of oil paints mixed in hot wax applied with a blow torch. "I'm fascinated with the textural/sculptural nature of encaustic painting, as a ceramicist, I find the texture immensely satisfying".
